Breakfast at Corte Ortensia: maritozzi, jam tart, fruit, moka pot and cappuccino

Every morning

Breakfast, just like home

Elena starts baking at six: sour cherry jam tarts, ciambellone, maritozzi filled with freshly whipped cream. Then seasonal fruit, yogurt with honey from the Castelli Romani hills, eggs on request and moka coffee, or a proper cappuccino.

From 8 to 10:30 am in the brick-vaulted breakfast room or, when the weather is fine, on the terrace.

  • A real Roman home

Elena and Giorgio made us feel like friends staying over rather than guests. The Glicine room is spotless and so quiet, and breakfast on the terrace was the highlight of every day. The maritozzi alone are worth the trip.

  • Better than any hotel

We booked directly after comparing prices and it was cheaper than the big sites, with breakfast included. Giorgio sent us a WhatsApp with tips before we even arrived. The bed in the Travertino room was the best we had in Italy.

  • Perfect with kids

The family room is huge by Roman standards and the kids loved their little alcove. Elena drew us a map of the best gelato spots. We felt completely at home for a week.

  • Charming and very clean

Beautiful old building, lovely courtyard full of flowers, and everything was very clean. The self check-in instructions were clear because our flight was late. Highly recommended.

  • Ottima base per Roma

Camera piccola ma curata in ogni dettaglio, colazione abbondante con torte fatte in casa. Unico appunto: la mansarda d’estate si scalda un po’, ma l’aria condizionata funziona bene.

Frequently asked questions

Before you travel

Any other questions? Write to us
What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 14:00 to 22:00, check-out by 11:00. If you arrive early you can leave your bags at reception and head straight out to explore; if you arrive after 8 pm we will send you self check-in instructions with a personal code in good time.

How much is the city tax?

It is a tax charged by the City of Rome: €6.00 per person per night, for a maximum of 10 nights. Children under 10 are exempt. It is not included in the room price and is paid at the property, in cash or by card.

Is there parking?

The district is a limited traffic zone (ZTL), so we advise against arriving by car. If you do need a space, we have an arrangement with a covered garage 400 metres away, open 24 hours: you can add it as an extra when you book.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, small dogs and cats are welcome at no extra charge. Just let us know in your special requests so we can prepare a suitable room with bowls and a bed.

Can we stay with children?

Of course. The Famiglia room sleeps up to 4 and the Suite Terrazza up to 3. Children under 3 stay free in a cot (request it as a free extra), and breakfast always includes milk, cereal and cakes.

Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, luggage storage is free and supervised from 8 am to 8 pm. On the day you leave, drop your cases and enjoy Rome until it is time for your train or flight.

How do I get here from Fiumicino airport?

The easiest way is the Leonardo Express to Termini (32 minutes, a train every 15 minutes), then metro line B towards Laurentina for one stop to Cavour: from there we are a 4-minute walk. Taxis charge a fixed fare to the historic centre (about 55 euros) and take 45 to 60 minutes. We can also book a private transfer for you.

And from Ciampino?

Direct buses run from Ciampino airport to Termini every 20 to 30 minutes (about 40 minutes), then it is one stop on metro line B to Cavour. Taxis charge a fixed fare to the centre (about 40 euros).

And from Termini station?

We are a 15-minute walk, all downhill along Via Cavour, or just one stop on metro line B (towards Laurentina, get off at Cavour). With heavy luggage a taxi costs about 10 euros.

How does cancellation work?

Cancellation is free up to 7 days before arrival and we refund your deposit in full. You will find all the details in our booking terms.
